Q: What inspires you to be a Center for Dialog & Resolution Board Member?
A: Brendan A. Nelson has more than 15 years of experience working for the Tacoma Public Schools, Non-Profit organizations and most currently, Peace Lutheran Church, he has developed the type of skills that are particularly effective at ensuring ongoing collaboration and accountability with young adults and community members.
The skills he has attained can be transferred to any work environment and enable him to be an excellent asset to any organization. In addition to connecting with young adults and providing quality support, Brendan also has extensive experience in direct service roles. As a result, he understands the importance of attending to the needs of our youth, community and fostering a supportive environment and working with individuals on an interpersonal level.
As a result of his hard work, Brendan was awarded the Unsung Hero Award from Sisters of Hope and the National Community Service Volunteer Award by President Barack Obama in 2012, and the City of Destiny Award for Equity and Inclusion. The proof of Brendan’s endless dedication to youth and community emerges in every facet of his life.
